A new plaque upon which are written the names of 79 local miners was added to the Sankeys Corner Miner and Pony statue on the 1st December
The unveiling was attended by around 200 people – and carried out by the vise Chairman of Burntwood Town Council, Cllr Keith Willis-Croft.
The unveiling of the plaque was followed by a formal blessing and prayer in memory of those whose lives were given in the mining industry and then Carols were sung by children from Chase Terrace Primary School and Ridgeway Primary School
